About

My son has a 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo as a project car. One night he showed me the color he built for it in Forza Horizon and said he wanted to paint the real car to match.

I thought that would be easy. It wasn't.

I couldn't find a straightforward converter that gave me the formats a vinyl shop or paint supplier could actually use. So I built one.

I'm a technical project manager by trade, not a professional coder. I built this with the tools available to me, including AI. The same way every builder uses the best tools they have.

If you want to match your Forza color to a real car paint, try the OEM factory paint lookup — 181,000+ real colors from 105 manufacturers with HEX and Forza HSB codes. Or browse the Forza paint color database to search all 10,926 in-game colors by name or manufacturer.

Note: Forza's in-game renderer applies lighting and reflections that can make colors appear brighter or more saturated than the flat color values suggest. The converter is mathematically accurate but cannot account for in-game rendering.

If it helps you match your real car to your virtual one, it did its job.

Frequently asked questions
What is Forza HSB?
Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon use a custom HSB (Hue, Saturation, Brightness) color system where all three values are expressed as decimals between 0.00 and 1.00, rather than the standard 0–360° for hue and 0–100% for saturation and brightness. This makes it difficult to match Forza paint colors to real-world formats used by paint shops, vinyl suppliers, and design software.
How do I find my paint color in Forza?
In Forza Motorsport or Forza Horizon, go to the Car Customization menu, select Paint, then choose a custom color. The HSB sliders will show decimal values between 0 and 1. Write these down and enter them in the Forza HSB section above, then tap Convert to get the equivalent HEX, RGB, HSV, HSL, and CMYK values.
Which format should I give my vinyl wrap shop?
Most vinyl wrap shops and print studios work in CMYK for printed wraps, or they may accept HEX and RGB for digital color matching. If you're ordering pre-colored vinyl film, the shop will usually match by eye or using their own color library. Bring the HEX code as a starting point — it's the most universally understood format.
Which format should I use for automotive paint?
Automotive paint shops typically mix by formula code rather than digital color values. However, RGB or HEX can help a shop find the closest available formula in their mixing system. Some modern shops with spectrophotometers can mix directly from RGB values. Always verify with a physical paint chip before committing to a full paint job.
Can I convert any color format back to Forza HSB?
Yes — enter values in any section (HEX, RGB, HSV, HSL, or CMYK) and tap Convert. The Forza HSB fields will update with the equivalent in-game values you can enter directly into Forza's color picker.
Do my saved colors persist between visits?
Yes. Your saved palette is stored in your browser's local storage, so it will be there the next time you visit on the same device and browser. To share colors across devices, use the Share Palette button to generate a link you can send to anyone.
